IMPORTANT FOR ALL NODE RUNNERS For our next major release, all nodes on the network will need to be public nodes for the initial release. You can convert your node to a public node now to save time and avoid any potential issues when doing it on the next release. šŸŸ” What Does Using A Public Node Mean? šŸŸ” Making your node public means you allow yourself to be seen by everyone on the network and accessible without the need for an intermediary. More specifically, it means you set up port forwarding on your router, so certain traffic sent to your public IP is sent directly to your HOPR node. Usually, you would need a PRN (Public Relay Node) to help communicate with your node, as routers can be picky with incoming traffic. But with port forwarding, your node basically becomes a "public node", so you can communicate with any node on the network without needing a PRN. You can learn more on our docs here: šŸŸ” What Are The Benefits Of Making My Node Public šŸŸ” We are asking you to do this now to avoid any trouble on the next major release. Every node will have to do it to participate in the next major release. But beyond that, running a public node also makes your node more stable and may resolve other issues you might face. šŸŸ” How To Make My Node Public šŸŸ” You will need to set up port forwarding on your router and map certain ports from your public IP address to your node's internal IP address. You can see a full guide on how to do this on our docs here: šŸŸ” Feedback šŸŸ” We realise that because every router will have a different set of instructions for setting up port forwarding, the process could be unclear and complicated for some.
