HOPR’s core development team recently met in Zurich for Architecture Week, where they dove deep into everything HOPR and redefined the roadmap for the year. Here are some of the key topics: 🟡 Staking Mechanism 🟡 As we make this transition to using HOPR tokens on the network instead of mHOPR or letting nodes stake HOPR directly, considerations have to be made for the Staking UX and the general tokenomics of this transition. It is not as straightforward as it seems, and the short conclusion is a few updates to our payment layer will be prioritized in the coming two releases to precede this transition. 🟡 Rust Migration 🟡 The Rust migration continues to go exceptionally well due to both a great core team and exceptional new hires. We’re on track to reach a pure Rust runtime by the end of the year while still prioritizing feature development. You’ll see major components, such as the heartbeat mechanism and relay connection migrating in the next release. 🟡 Infrastructure 🟡 A lot of discussions surrounded infrastructure as the project continues to move exceptionally fast, with even a couple of new hires dedicated solely to DevOps. The list of topics here is long, but maybe the coolest new tool you can interact with for yourself is the HOPR Operator: You can spin up multiple nodes, all with automated configuration and management, which the team now uses for testing. It is open-source, so you can give it a try. 🟡 Protocol Features 🟡 Features on the coming roadmap include: Anonymous Return pathing Segmentation Acknowledgements Retransmission Topology optimizing default pathing Each of these will be broken down and discussed in coming content as these features are integrated in coming releases. This year for HOPR continues to look as promising as ever, so stay tuned for the ride, and if you haven’t already, join our waitlist to run a HOPR node: forms.gle/rHLwbXVZyATRuRmK7
